The Napa Marathon – March 7, 2004
“You always remember your first.”
My first marathon. I trained for and ran it with my pastor and some friends from church, 2 weeks before my twin babies turned one year old. This one was about getting my body back and working hard to complete something for me (it’s hard to remember who you are with infant twins)

Run the River 50K Sacramento, CA – November 14, 2009
“If you can’t run faster, run farther.” After a failed attempt to quailify for the Boston Marathon, in honor of my 40th birthday I opted to run a longer race, rather than a faster race. I finished this one in only a few more minutes than my first marathon. And look who was there to greet me at the end.
The San Francisco Marathon – July 25, 2010
“The first of my bi-coastal marathons in 2010” Always a pleasure to run an event with my running club, Chasing Sanity. And so fun to run in our City by the Bay. A very hilly, but amazing course, including Fisherman’s Wharf, an out and back over the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, the Haight Ashbury and AT&T Park, ending at the waterfront near the Bay Bridge.
The New York Marathon – November 7, 2010
“This was a bucket list event.” We got in on our first attempt at the lottery. Largest marathon in the world. Traveled with, toured NY with and ran it with my dear running partner”

The Tough Mudder, Diablo Grande, CA – Sept. 30, 2012
“We are tough mudders.” After completing two rounds of Beachbody’s Insanity program together, Derek and I were ready to take on the challenge. We partnered up with a group of co-workers and some friends and the camaraderie, the team building and the challenge were amazing! About 12 miles of running and 25 obstacles in the 106 degree temps in the dry hills of California
The Redding Marathon Relay – January 18, 2015
“Running with your best friends.” We’ve done this event twice with this crew. It’s a weekend away, with a little race thrown in for fun. A beautiful course and always a memorable time
The Ragnar Relay – September 2013
“200 miles in 2 days, from San Francisco to Calistoga with 2 crazy teams” My partner and I ran 24 miles over our 3 legs including our second leg which was an 8 mile rain run at 3am. This was a bucket list item for a crazy runner, but I can check that box and call it done.

Badger Cove, March 2015
“Running with my baby boy.” After training with his run club, we tackled our first 5K together. A very hilly course but the It’s Its at the end made it all worthwhile.

My two favorite at-home workouts:
“Completing these two-month programs felt like completing a marathon.” And they got me in the shape of my life, in my mid-40’s!
